Postcard from Dubai

Whenever I travel to a new place, I try to find and connect with someone in a creative job so that I can learn something about their world in my frame of reference. A busman's holiday if you like.

A week before I left for Dubai I connected (via twitter) with a young copywriter named Neel, who agreed to meet up and do an interview for this blog. As I was there shooting anyway I thought we'd do it as a filmed interview.

Let me know if this works out for you - it's the first time I've embedded a vimeo video into this blog. I hope it works!

Neel talks about his take on Creative Risk, whether we patronise clients sometimes by dumbing down, and why we should try humour (or insight) as a way of engaging people.

Thanks to Neel for giving me a great evening's conversation.

  1. I guess Dubai could sell the Ski Slope to the Swedish with refreshingly honest, but skillful, admen who write insightful, enjoyable ads.

  2. I wonder if you're a Dubai Adman? ;-).
Admen with those qualities could sell anything to anyone.
